TutorPro Gold is designed to work on Shared Hosting as well as on VPS servers. The installation steps outlined below should get you going pretty quickly. Note that if you are using a VPS server, you need to look into how to manage your server, as this is beyond the scope of this script. Follow these steps to install the application:

  1. Create a database: Create a MySQL database which will be used by the application.
  2. Upload the database script. The downloaded package includes a script named database.sql. Import this script into your MySQL database to create the base tables and insert some sample data.
  3. Upload the application: Upload the upload.zip file to your server and unzip it.
  4. Update your Database credentials: Open the .env file located in the base directory of the application and enter your database credentials. This script is written to work with MySQL so set the DB_CONNECTION to use MySQL. Then also update your database username, host name and passwords accordingly. There are more settings in this file that you will need to update later (such as mail settings, payment settings, social login etc. If you have this information at hand, you can enter it, but you can also update them after the installation is done.
  5. Check your system requirements. We have included a simple way to check that your system meets some basic requirements such as php version, php extensions, folder permissions etc. To perform this check, go to your application url eg www.mysite.com/install. This will launch a wizard to check for different system requirements. If your system does not meet a particular requirement, you will need to fix it before proceeding to the next step of the check. Once the check is completed and you receive success messages, you can click on Finish to visit your site. Note that if you finish the check once and try to revisit the check url again, you will receive a 404 error. This is to prevent your site visitors from running the install check. To re-run the check at anytime, delete the file storage/installed. This file is created when there is a successful check process, and as long as the file exists, the installation routes will not work.
  6. Visit your frontend and configure paramenters. At this point, your site should be up and running. It is a good time to configure your site settings before you start doing anything else. Login as site admin using the credentials below:
    Email: admin@admin.com
    Password: password

    This will take you directly to the admin dashboard where you can configure your settings.

NB: It is very important that you take time to configure your settings to avoid having mailing errors or some other error related to your system configuration. Have a look at the Site Settings section to see how to manage your site configuration.
